Our History of Our SuccessMy involvement with German Shepherds started when I was 18 – a boyfriend owned one, and I was totally amazed at how big, but gentle the dog was. In 1982 I purchased my first pedigree bitch – Carla, then a male – Sam. When I moved to Newmarket in 1984 I met Betty McKenzie (Torenia) and she immediately wanted to know why I didn’t show Carla. So I started at the local exemption (now called “Companion”) shows. Carla was a lovely character and was very successful at that level. That was the beginning... After that came Acresway Marnie and Acresway Yola. Yola was graded "Very Good" under German judges at Championship show level. In 1992 I moved to Crossingate Cottage and wanted to start breeding my own dogs. Helen and Dennis Bibby let me have Silkenwood Rita, who produced some lovely puppies for me, Crossingate Arko (a beautiful long coated dog of excellent character), Crossingate Bad Company, Crossingate Daisy and Crossingate Def Leppard. Daisy was mated to Golo v Michelstadter Rathaus and produced Elkie (Crossingate Freda) who was mated to Irish Ch Earlvill Andy and produced Katie (Crossingate Hera) who won at Championship show level amongst top competition. I had also bought in partnership with Jos Markillie, a bitch from George Woods – Novem Jena (by Ch Novem Adagio at Silkenwood), and we started our joint affix – Hausjossal. Jena produced Cleopatra, (Hausjossal Cleopatra) a big strong bitch with excellent movement – another who did really well amongst top competition. Our latest joint effort is Yasso (Silkenwood Yohan of Hausjossal) who is doing extremely well. Helen Bibby and I now have Silkenwood Lisa in partnership, who has just produced a litter of 5 lovely male puppies. My kennel is only small, as I like to give my dogs as much attention as possible. |
